  • How Not To: Start a Fire

Jun 25, 2008 tagged as febreze, fire, fire extinguisher, smoke

If you’d like to avoid accidental fire, here are some things to keep in mind:

    1. When you bring home a burger wrapped in foil paper, and you’re REALLY HUNGRY, and also kind of tired, pay attention before popping it in the microwave. I forgot that foil + paper + microwaves = fire. Now you won’t have to.
    2. Planning on enjoying a quiet night at home, but you just can’t stand the smell of your neighbor’s cigarette habit? Why not try a spray, flowers, or just Febreze? I mixed unattended candles with a blowing heat vent, and found a room newly ablaze. Fortunately, we had a fresh pot of water on hand, so the fire didn’t envelop the apartment, but we didn’t escape unscathed either.
    3. Do what I did after learning these two lessons: fire extinguisher in every room! Come on, they even make them pretty now.
    4. Finally, if you’re really looking to avoid fire, you probably shouldn’t rig your car with explosives and walk away. Oh, you’re not an arsonist?  Doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. At 3am, right outside our house in LA. Fun stuff, that not sleeping for months thing.

You should be all set now.
