We Hold These Truths to be Self-Evident
Forty-six years ago, a quarter of a million people marched peacefully in Washington and listened to Martin Luther King Jr say some of the most important words the country has ever heard.
For me, this serves as a reminder that conditions will always improve.
This day forty-six years ago was about creating the reality of the truth that all men are created equal. Now, whether the issue is gay rights or health care or war or the spread of infectious disease, things will improve.
And in the meantime (for many of these issues, on a so much smaller scale),
“Let us not wallow in the valley of despair.”
“…[for] we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope.”
