The Living Camera
Stephen Wiltshire‘s art is beautiful, but the way he creates it is jaw-dropping.
An autistic child born in London, he was discovered creating a an exact replica panorama of London after having seen the real thing from above in a quick helicopter trip.
Since then, he’s portrayed Rome, Madrid, Tokyo, Dubai, and more.
He’s uncannily able to recreate city skylines down to the last street, building column, and window after a single look. Here, he does Columbus Circle (a relatively small project, compared with his Rome drawing) for Esquire.
I’m fascinated at how he can store such detailed, accurate images, only to recreate them exactly as he took them in. He is a seriously amazing talent.
